The Wedding of Captain Rupert Stevens and Victoria Lee

On September 28th, 2013, I had the great pleasure of attending the wedding of dear friend Victoria Lee, and was thrilled to get involved in the artwork. From the service sheet to location map provided to invitees, as well as the table plan and guestboard, I also dressed the pre-ceremony room in which the bride prepared for the big day. It was a a beautiful service and reception and a memorable start to the Made of Honour project.

With the wedding taking place in the incredible setting of Exeter College Oxford, the bride requested a simple-yet-detailed map of the City Centre to help guests find the venue...

We decided on a service sheet that showed off the Victorian Gothic Chapel while displaying touches personal to the couple. If you look carefully you'll see the cats that Victoria and Rupert share, their favourite books, school crests, Rupert's military ruff, Victoria's choir ruff and a miniature Tower of London; the scene of their engagement...

Following the gin and tonic reception, complete with full Grenadier Guards presentation, guests retired to the hall for dinner, finding their place with the bespoke placement, complete with bride and groom atop high table....

Finally, after dinner, guests ended the day in the Moroccan tent. It was decided that most are too drunk to worry about heartfelt messages in books so we opted for a guestboard. Wellwishers stamped a fingerprint blossom onto an illustration of the Exeter College library - outside which the dancing took place - before signing their name...

These features had all been prepared weeks in advance of the wedding but I also put together some last minute touches for the 'pre-bridal suite'. Victoria wanted a few touches just to make the bare room a little more cosy, so I made a few signs and sketches to display among flowers, candles and the bride's favourite gin...

Congratulations to Captain and Mrs Rupert Stevens!
